Regular Season Round 6: Avenida - Atomeromu 96-54
Date: November 24, 2021
Very predictable result when second ranked Spanish Avenida (5-1) rolled over bottom-ranked Hungarian Atomeromu (0-6) in Salamanca 96-54 on Wednesday. Avenida shot 63.5 percent from the field and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Avenida forced 23 Atomeromu turnovers and outrebounded them 32-21 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. Avenida looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Atomeromu's players. American swingman Kahleah Copper (186-94, college: Rutgers) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and guard Leonor Rodriguez-Manso (180-91, college: FSU) supported her with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Avenida players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by Serbian center Nikolina Milic (191-94) did not help to save the game for Atomeromu. Serbian-Hungarian center Sara Krnjic (191-91) added 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Spanish champion maintains second position in Group A with 5-1 record having just eleven point less than leader Bourges. Loser Atomeromu still closes the standings with six games lost. Avenida will meet league's leader UMMC in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atomeromu will play against TTT Riga (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
