Regular Season Round 21: Bayern - Monaco 78-83

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked French Monaco (8-11) beat on the road higher ranked German Bayern Muenchen (8-11) 83-78. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bayern Muenchen won fourth quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monaco shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 70.6 percentage. American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 assists for the winners and Serbian guard Danilo Andjusic (194-91) chipped in 16 points. Four Monaco players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Serbian point guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: EKU) with 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and Serbian Vladimir Lucic (204-89, agency: BeoBasket) scored 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Monaco moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bayern. Monaco will play against higher ranked Zenit (#3) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayern Muenchen will play on the road against Baskonia (#15) in Vitoria and hopes to get back on the winning track.
