One of the most interesting games of round 22 was a derby match between two teams from France. Ninth ranked Monaco outleveled host ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (9-11) 100-75. The game without a history. Monaco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's 36. They outrebounded ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket 33-20 including a 21-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Monaco especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Guinean-American forward Alpha Diallo (201-97, college: Providence) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) supported him with 20 points and 7 assists. Five Monaco players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: MTSU) did not help to save the game for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. American-German forward Dylan Osetkowski (206-96, college: Texas, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Monaco have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 10-11 record. Defending French champion ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Bayern. Monaco will play against league's leader Real Madrid at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Bayern Muenchen (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
