Regular Season Round 22: Anadolu Efes - Panathinaikos 82-81
Date: January 21, 2022
There was no surprise in Istanbul where 17th ranked Greek Panathinaikos (4-15) were edged by ninth ranked Turkish Efes (10-10) 82-81 on Friday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 26-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) fired 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. French Adrien Moerman (202-88) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Efes players scored in double figures. Serbian guard Nemanja Nedovic (192-91, agency: BeoBasket) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Okaro White (206-92, college: FSU) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to eighth place. Panathinaikos lost fifth consecutive game. Defending Greek champion keep the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. Efes will meet higher ranked Zenit (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panathinaikos will play against Zalgiris (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
