Regular Season Round 24: Fenerbahce - ASVEL 85-76
Date: February 1, 2022
No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (10-10) beat 13th ranked French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (9-14) in Istanbul 85-76 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Fenerbahce won last quarter 21-13. The winners were led by Canadian forward Dyshawn Pierre (198-93, college: Dayton, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 16 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American center Devin Booker (205-91, college: Clemson) supported him with 16 points. Even 23 points by guard Elie Okobo (191-97) did not help to save the game for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. American guard Chris Jones (188-93, college: Angelo St.) added 12 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fenerbahce have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eleventh position with 10-10 record. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket lost third consecutive game. Defending French champion keeps the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Fenerbahce will meet higher ranked Milano (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Efes (#8) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
