Regular Season Round 30: Olympiacos - Panathinaikos 101-73

The most interesting game of round 30 was a derby match between two teams from Greece. The game took place in Pireus where fourth ranked Olympiacos outleveled visiting Panathinaikos (6-17) 101-73. They outrebounded Panathinaikos 32-21 including 21 on the defensive glass. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for point guard Kostas Sloukas (190-1990) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 assists. French center Moustapha Fall (216-1992) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Olympiacos players scored in double figures. Center Georgios Papagiannis (220-1997) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Daryl Macon (190-1995, college: Arkansas) added 23 points in the effort for Panathinaikos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos (17-8) moved-up to third place. Panathinaikos lost third consecutive game. Defending Greek champion keep the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Olympiacos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked CSKA (#18) in Moscow in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Panathinaikos will play at home against Bayern Muenchen and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
