Very important is a road loss of second ranked French Monaco (5-2) against ninth ranked Spanish Valencia (4-3) on Friday night. Visiting Monaco was defeated by Valencia in a tough game in Valencia 84-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Monaco. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Armenian guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points. American James Webb III (203-1993, college: Boise St.) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Jordan Loyd (193-1993, college: Indianapolis) answered with 24 points (made all of his seven free throws) and Guinean-American forward Alpha Diallo (201-1997, college: Providence) added 14 points and 4 steals (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Monaco. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Valencia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Monaco at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Olympiacos and Barca. Valencia will play against Virtus BO (#14) in Bologna in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Monaco will play at home against Baskonia (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
