Very expected game when 17th ranked Italian Milano (3-8) lost to seventh ranked Spanish Baskonia (6-5) in Vitoria 62-78 on Thursday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Darius Thompson (193-1995, college: WKU) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 7 assists. Estonian center Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-1996, college: S.Carolina) accounted for 7 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American-Ugandan center Brandon Davies (208-1991, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman Devon Hall (196-1995, college: Virginia, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points respectively for Milano in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Baskonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Zalgiris. Milano lost their seventh game in a row. Defending Italian champion dropped to the sixteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with ALBA and ASVEL. Baskonia will meet at home Bayern Muenchen (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Milano will play against Panathinaikos in Athens and hope to secure a win.
