Regular Season Round 11: Bayern - M.Tel-Aviv 98-89

There was an upset when higher ranked Israeli Maccabi Tel-Aviv (5-6) lost to fifteenth ranked German Bayern Muenchen (4-7) in Munich 89-98 on Friday. Bayern Muenchen made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Cassius Winston (185-1997, college: Michigan St.) who led the winners and scored 23 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Point guard Isaac Bonga (204-1999) accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Five Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. American-Spanish point guard Lorenzo Brown (196-1990, college: NC State) came up with 36 points (!!!) and 7 assists and American guard Jalen Adams (191-1995, college: UConn) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Bayern Muenchen moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Partizan and Virtus BO. Maccabi Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Bayern Muenchen will meet higher ranked Baskonia (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Tel-Aviv will play against Valencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
