There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked French Bourges (2-2) smashed at home higher ranked Hungarian Szekszard (2-2) 83-62 on Wednesday. Bourges forced 20 Szekszard turnovers. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Kayla Alexander (193-1991, college: Syracuse) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Serbian-American guard Yvonne Anderson (170-1990, college: Texas) chipped in 23 points. Bourges' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Ruthy Hebard (192, college: Oregon) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Victoria Vivians (187, college: MSU) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Defending French champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 8 other teams including defeated Szekszard. Bourges will meet at home league's leader Polkowice in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Szekszard will play against Bologna (#10) and hope to secure a win.
