The most interesting game of round 12 in the Euroleague was only one-point a home defeat of 4th ranked Spanish Real Madrid (8-4) to third ranked French Monaco (9-3) 95-94 in the game for the second place. It ended the six-game winning streak of Real Madrid. Monaco dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Real Madrid's 30. 31 personal fouls committed by Real Madrid helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Mike James (185-1990, college: Lamar) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and the other American import swingman Jordan Loyd (193-1993, college: Indianapolis) who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-1992) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds and Bosnian swingman Dzanan Musa (205-1999, agency: BeoBasket) scored 24 points and 4 assists. Five Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Monaco have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Defending Spanish champion Real Madrid dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Olympiacos and Barca. Monaco are looking forward to face Barca (#5) in Barcelona in the next round. Real Madrid will play on the road against Bayern Muenchen in Munich and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
