Regular Season Round 16: Monaco - Zalgiris 84-82

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (8-8) were edged on the road by fourth ranked French Monaco (11-5) 84-82 on Thursday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Monaco made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Elie Okobo (191-1997) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and Guinean-American forward Alpha Diallo (201-1997, college: Providence) who added 14 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Keenan Evans (191-1996, college: Texas Tech) responded with 17 points and 5 assists and Latvian Rolands Smits (207-1995) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Monaco keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Barca and Baskonia. Zalgiris at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Anadolu Efes and Crvena Zvezda. Monaco will meet Partizan (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris will play against Fenerbahce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
