There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Spanish Valencia (8-10) won against at home higher ranked Turkish Efes (9-9) 81-71 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Josep Puerto (199-1999) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Slovenian Klemen Prepelic (191-1992) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-1994, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 11 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Turkish guard Shane Larkin (182-1992, college: Miami, FL) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Valencia and four Efes players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Partizan and Virtus BO. Loser Efes keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Crvena Zvezda. Valencia will meet ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#15) on the road in the next round. Efes will play against the league's leader Barca (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
