Regular Season Round 21: Monaco - Milano 101-88

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked French Monaco (13-8) beat at home 17th ranked Italian Milano (6-15) 101-88 on Thursday. Monaco dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Milano's 34. It was a great shooting night for Monaco especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Mike James (185-1990, college: Lamar) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Guard Elie Okobo (191-1997) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was French forward Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (201-1995, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 19 points and Greek-Canadian point guard Nazareth Mitrou-Long (193-1993, college: Iowa St., agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Monaco moved-up to third place, which they share with Barca and Fenerbahce. Milano lost fifth consecutive game. Defending Italian champion keeps the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with ALBA. Monaco will meet bottom-ranked ALBA Berlin (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Milano will play against Baskonia and hope to secure a win.
