We should mention about the upset which took place in Milano, where higher ranked Spanish Baskonia (12-10) lost to seventeenth ranked Italian Milano (7-15) in a road game 83-89. Milano outrebounded Baskonia 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of German power forward Johannes Voigtmann (211-1992) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. French forward Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (201-1995, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Lithuanian swingman Rokas Giedraitis (200-1992) replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Darius Thompson (193-1995, college: WKU) added 19 points in the effort for Baskonia. Five Milano and four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Baskonia's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Italian champion maintains seventeenth position with 7-15 record. Baskonia at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Valencia and Zalgiris. Milano will play against higher ranked Crvena Zvezda (#13) in Beograd in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Baskonia will play at home against Panathinaikos (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
