Everything went according to plan in Athens where ninth ranked Spanish Valencia (13-11) edged 15th ranked Greek Panathinaikos (8-16) 92-91 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American-Armenian guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) who scored 24 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Canadian power forward Kyle Alexander (208-1996, college: Tennessee) chipped in 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American-Cameroonian guard Paris Lee (183-1995, college: Illinois St.) who recorded 25 points and 7 assists and Lithuanian center Arturas Gudaitis (211-1993) added 23 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Panathinaikos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with ASVEL. Valencia will meet at home league's leader Olympiacos in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
