There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Italian Milano (11-15) defeated on the road 11th ranked Spanish Valencia (13-14) 88-84 on Tuesday. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican-American point guard Shabazz Napier (185-1991, college: UConn) who scored 28 points and 5 assists. Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (186-1993, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Armenian guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) who recorded 19 points and American point guard Jared Harper (180-1997, college: Auburn, agency: Verus Management) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Milano have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending Italian champion maintains fourteenth place with 11-15 record. Valencia lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Milano will meet at home higher ranked Partizan (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valencia will play against the league's second-placed Real Madrid (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
