Regular Season Round 4: Panathinaikos - M.Tel-Aviv 81-86
Date: October 20, 2023
The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Israeli Maccabi Tel-Aviv's (2-1) road victory over 12th ranked Greek Panathinaikos (1-3) in Athens 86-81 on Friday. Maccabi Tel-Aviv looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American Bonzie Colson Jr (198-1996, college: Notre Dame, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and American-Israeli point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-1991, college: Rochester) supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 15 points and 4 assists by Argentinian-Italian guard Luca Vildoza (191-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Panathinaikos. Point guard Kostas Sloukas (191-1990) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Five Maccabi Tel-Aviv and four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending Israeli champion moved-up to seventh place. Loser Panathinaikos dropped to the thirteenth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Maccabi Tel-Aviv will meet Monaco (#9) on the road in the next round. Panathinaikos will play against Baskonia (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
