There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Israeli Maccabi Tel-Aviv (2-2) was rolled over on the road by ninth ranked French Monaco (3-2) 107-79 on Thursday. Monaco shot 60.6 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Monaco looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Mike James (185-1990, college: Lamar) who scored 24 points and 5 assists. Guinean-American forward Alpha Diallo (201-1997, college: Providence) chipped in 18 points. American power forward Josh Nebo (206-1997, college: Texas A&M) produced 10 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Antonius Cleveland (196-1994, college: SEMO) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Five Monaco and four Maccabi Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Monaco. Defending French champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Olympiacos and Zalgiris. Defending Israeli champion Maccabi Tel-Aviv dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. Monaco will meet Armani Milano (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Tel-Aviv will play against Armani Milano (#14) and hope to secure a win.
