No shocking result in a game when second ranked Polish Polkowice (5-2) defeated at home 6th ranked Hungarian UNI Gyor (1-4) 92-82 on Tuesday. Polkowice looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Weronika Gajda (174-1989) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists for the winners and American point guard Brittney Sykes (175-1994, college: Syracuse) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Polkowice's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. British-American power forward Kristine Anigwe (193-1997, college: California) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Hungarian forward Cyesha Goree (188-1993, college: Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Five Polkowice and four UNI Gyor players scored in double figures. Polkowice maintains second place with 5-2 record having just two point less than leader Miskolc. Loser UNI Gyor dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Lublin and Landes. Polkowice will meet Avenida (#4) in the next round. UNI Gyor will play against the league's leader Mersin and hope to win that game.
