There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked FrenchASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (8-25) outscored on the road higher ranked Spanish Valencia (14-19) 98-69 on Thursday. ASVEL made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. ASVEL outrebounded Valencia 37-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. ASVEL looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Valencia 's players. Center Joffrey Lauvergne (211-1991) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Nando De Colo (196-1987) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Armenian-American guard Chris Jones (188-1993, college: Angelo St.) with 18 points and American-Ugandan center Brandon Davies (208-1991, college: BYU) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ASVEL maintains seventeenth place with 8-25 record.
