Alonzo Gaffney claims Cypriot ECOMMBX BL weekly honour

American Alonzo Gaffney (208-F-2000) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best APOEL Nicosia and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 26-year old forward had a double-double of 24 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat AEL (#7, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 80-73. APOEL is placed at 2nd position in Cypriot ECOMMBX BL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and APOEL won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Gaffney had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be APOEL's top player in his first season with the team. Arizona State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Gaffney is in league's top in points (5th best: 24.0ppg) and averages solid 56.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Camryn Weston (190-G-2000) of Enosis Neon Paralimni. Weston impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Paralimni to another comfortable win 92-79 over Anorthosis (0-1) being unquestionably team leader. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Weston is a newcomer at Paralimni and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 27.0ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 7.0rpg and 5.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Javonte Johnson (198-G, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) of TRIA EKA AEL Limassol (#7). Johnson scored 26 points and passed 6 assists. Despite Johnson's great performance the AEL lost 73-80 to APOEL (#2, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Johnson as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
