Czech Republic ZBL round 5 best performance: Karoline Striplin

American Forward Karoline Striplin (190-F-2003) had a very impressive game in the last round for DSK Levhartice Chomutov, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 23-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, eight rebounds) to her team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Basket Ostrava (#9, 0-5) with 38-point margin 93-55. Chomutov is placed at 4th position in Czech Republic ZBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Chomutov will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Striplin had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Chomutov and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Former Indiana University star has very solid stats this year. Striplin is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.0ppg) and averages impressive 72.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Jayla Johnson (188-F-1998) of Kara Trutnov. Johnson had a very good evening with 28 points and 7 rebounds. Of course she led Trutnov to another comfortable win 86-72 over slightly higher-ranked Chomutov (#4, 3-2) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Trutnov to move up to 6th position in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But a 3-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Johnson is a newcomer at Trutnov, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.3ppg (#1). She also registered 4.2 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was French guard Pauline Astier (179-SG-2002) of league's top team ZVVZ USK Praha. Astier showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. She was a key player of USK Praha, leading her team to a 109-58 easy win against the lower-ranked KP Brno (#5, 3-2). USK Praha started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. Astier turns to be one of the very best players in the league while she is also a leader of the top team having her eyes on the championship title. The season just started for Astier as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader.
