Spain recorded the ninth straight win at the U18 European Championship and won
the tournament in Wroclaw. The Spanish outfit triumphed in the game over Serbia
71:65 with the late push for Gold. The victory was really hard for the favorites
of the tournament. Spain managed to take only 16:14 at the end of the first
frame and Perez scored for 26:21.
Jorge Sanz (188-PG-93) made two free throws for 37:33 and he also closed the
half at 43:36. Serbia did not give up and bounced back for 51:54 after thirty
minutes. Micic later reduced to 60:62, but Spain replied with a 7-2 run to seal
the victory and the trophy.
Jorge Sanz top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Abrines Redondo
posted 16.
Daniel Diez (199-F-93) followed them with 8 points in the winning effort.
Micic and Mitrovic responded with 13 points each in defeat and

Turkey tastes Bronze in Poland at the U18 European Championship in Division A.
The Turkish team needed 69:65 over Italy to finish third. The Italian team
dropped to the fourth place despite leading scorer Amedeo Della Valle attempted
to play after missing the last two games. Italy opened the game with 21-19 at
the end of the first period and added 20-13 in the second frame.
Edoardo Giovara (200-G-93) brought 41:32 at the end of the half as Italian
team seemed to be confident in the game. In the second half Turkey however came
back into the game. Tuncer gave the latter 51:50 after thirty minutes and
another 18-15 in the last stanza brought the victory s well as the third place
for Turkey.
Tayfun Erulku (188-G/F-94) stepped up with 12 points and Tuncer netted 10,
while three other teammates scored 8 apiece.
Francesco Veccia (190-G-93) answered with 14 points in defeat and Imbro
posted 13.
Amedeo Tessitori (203-C-94) ended up with 12 points, while
Mattia Magrini (190-G-93) chipped in 10.

Poland - Lithuania

Lithuania edged the hosts for the 5th place at the U18 European Championship in
Division A. The Baltic side won 78:66 to send Poland to the 6th position. Both
teams desired to finish the tournament with the victory. More than 2000 fans
came to support the last game of the home side that started with 20:18 after the
first period.
Paulius Semaska (183-PG-93) and
Osvaldas Olisevicius (196-F-93) sent he teams to the lockers for 38:35 as
the Baltic side won the frame 20-15. Lithuania added 25-16 in the third quarter
as Grigonis and
Michal Michalak (194-G-93) exchanged the shots at the end of the frame. Both
teams nailed 15 points apiece in the last stanza for the final result.
Simonas Kymantas (204-C/F-93) led the way with 18 points and
Osvaldas Olisevicius brought 16. Gudaitis netted 14, while
Paulius Semaska and Grigonis delivered 10 apiece.

France celebrated victory on the final day of the U18 European Championship in
Poland. Les Bleus outscored Croatia to claim the seventh overall position.
Mouhammadou Jaiteh (206-C-94) stepped up with 18 points and 17 rebounds to
pace the winners. France pulled in front early in the game and maintained the
lead throughout the starting quarter. They ensured an 18:14 lead after ten
minutes. Croatia opened the second term with seven points in a row to pull
ahead. Croatia did not allow their opponents to deny the deficit rallying to a
44:37 halftime lead. Croatia stayed in front in the third term despite France
being within striking distance for the better part of the frame.
William Howard (201-F-93) converted a pair of three-pointers early in the
final quarter to put France on top. France soon went on a deadly 17:0 run to run
away for good in this one. Jean-Charles Livio provided 17 points, while
William Howard added 16 points in the win. Matej Buovac and
Mislav Brzoja (198-F/G-94) responded with 12 points each for Croatia.

Latvia - Russia

Russia clinched 9th place in Division A, Latvia is 10th after the game against
each other. The Russian team needed 64:58 win to finish on one step higher.
Russia started the game confident and reached 16:6 after the first 10 minutes.
Gleb Goldyrev (200-F-93) brought 19:10 and Loginov scored the half at 26:22.
The third period belonged to the Baltic side that first tied the game and even
grabbed the lead at the end of the period. After 21-14 they enjoyed 43:40
entering the last stanza. Trailing 50:53, Russia erupted with 12-0 run to seal
the victory.
Vladislav Trushkin (200-F-93) paced all the winners with 15 points and 16
rebounds, while
Gleb Goldyrev notched 11. Loginov scored 10, while
Aleksandr Gudumak (204-F-93) and Karpenko added 6 apiece.
Guntis Sipolins (200-F-93) netted 10 points in the losing effort and
Grazulis chipped in 9.

Slovenia - Germany

Germany finished their U18 European Championship campaign on a high note. They
overcame Slovenia to claim the 11th place at the tournament.
Dennis Schroeder (184-G-93) stepped up with 22 points, 8 assists and 3
rebounds to lead the effort. Germany capped the first term on a 10:1 run to post
a 20:12 lead. Richter opened a double-digit lead for Germany at the start of the
second term but Slovenia immediately answered with 9 points in a row to narrow
the deficit. Germany however cleared off soon to build an 18-point buffer late
in the half. Slovenia narrow the gap at 11-point mark at halftime 30:41. Germany
maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. They registered a 67:53 lead
at the final break. Slovenia never got closer than 10 points in the fourth
period as Germany rolled to the win.
Bogdan Radosavljevic (211-C-93) delivered 21 points and 8 rebounds, while
Paul Zipser and
Stephan Haukohl (200-F-93) added 11 points each in the win. Luka Rupnik
responded with 20 points and 8 assists for Slovenia.

Ukraine - Czech Republic

Ukraine sent Czech Republic to Division B of the U18 European Championship for
2012. Ukraine beat them 88:73 and won the Classification Round for 13-16 places.
Czech Republic won and lost two games to finish on the 15th spot and as well as
Finland will be eliminated to the lower Division. Ukraine won the opening period
23-21 and added massive 27-18 in the second period.
Vladimir Gerun (206-C-94) made two free throws for 50:39 after the first 20
minutes in the court. Ukraine also won the third quarter 23-14 to increase to 20
points entering the last stanza. Czech Republic replied with 20-14 in the last
stanza to reduce to 14 points.
Vladimir Gerun paced all the winners with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while
Klym Artamonov (176-PG-93) followed him with 24. Zhukovskyy scored 12 and
Shundel posted 10.
Tomas Kyzlink (197-F/G-93) answered with 16 points in defeat and Svandrlik
nailed 13. Herman produced 12, while Bernath delivered 11.
Finland - Greece

Greece remain in Division A for the next year as they edged Finland at the U18
European Championship last day. Greece needed 68:55 for 2-2 record that was
enough to take the 14th spot higher then Czech Republic and Finland. The latter
two teams will be eliminated to Division B for the next year. Greece knew the
importance of the victory and went on an 18-7 after the first period. Finland
responded with 22-17 and reduced to 35:29 at the halftime. Moreover with 19-16
in the third period Naapi closed the third period with 51:48. Finland however
could not come closer as Greece pushed the tempo for good at the very end. They
won the last stanza 17-7 and won the game by 13 points.
Giannoulis Larentzakis (196-G/F-93) chipped in 23 points to lead the charge,
while
Petros Melissaratos (202-C/F-93) collected 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Serbia will play in U18 European Championship Final. They overcame Italy in a
dramatic semifinal clash in Wroclaw tonight.

effort. Italy made it look easy early in the game. The Azzurri grabbed a 17:3

was all about Spain from start to finish. They posted a 19:5 lead after ten

restore intrigue in this one after the big break. They faced a 23-point deficit
heading into the fourth quarter. Spain did not slow down in the fourth period
and rallied to a comfortable win at the end.

just 8 points in the opening quarter building an 8-point lead. Latvia stretched
the margin in the second period. The Baltic team arrived at halftime up by 14
points 35:21. But Slovenia did not surrender. They tipped off the second half
with 14 points in a row to erase the deficit. Latvia managed to return the lead
as they posted a 51:48 advantage with one quarter remaining. Kalnins and Klavs

of the U18 European Championship. The team edged Slovenia to finish with 3-2
record on the second place in Group E. Slovenia fell at 1-4 record and could not
make it to the Quarterfinals. It was the game for the last spot from Group E to
the Quarterfinal. Both teams in case of the victory could make to the Sweet
Eight and only the last seconds sent Turkey to the 1/4 Finals. Slovenia however
started with 16:12 and Skerbec scored for 22:15. Eroglu closed the second period
at 35:27, while the winners pushed the margin to 42:30 before watching the
Slovenians get back into the game with an 11-0 run to pull within 42:41.
Tayfun Erulku (188-G/F-94) was the last to post in the third period and
Tekin brought 60:53. Slovenia reduced the gap but could not even tie the game.
Late baskets by

Poland wins Group E at the European Championship in Division A to advance from
the top place to the Quarterfinals. The favorites of the group overcame Germany
U18 82:65 and finished on top with 4-1 record. Germany fell at 1-4 record on the
bottom of the standings. Poland pulled ahead 12-4 early on in front of the home
crowd. Germany got back within 15-11 but then trailed 21-13 after one quarter.
Niedzwiedzki scored for 35:26 and
Michal Michalak (194-G-93) closed the period at 44:30. Poland did not even
think of slowing down and won the third period 25-18.
Jakub Koelner (182-PG-93) and Richter exchanged the late baskets for 69:48
at the end of the third period. Germany managed to win the last stanza 17-13,
but could reduce only to 17-point end.

France posted the second straight win at the Qualifying Round of U18 European
Championship. They held off Russian counterparts to improve at 4-1 record in
Group F. Russia fell at 1-4 record after the defeat.
Mouhammadou Jaiteh (206-C-94) stepped up with double-double of 13 points and
10 rebounds for Les Bleus. France opened the game with ten points in a row. As
Russia struggled to tune in France posted a 24:16 lead at the first break.
However the second term was a different story. Russia went on a 13:0 run at the
start of it to post a 29:24 lead. They maintained the advantage throughout the
second term to ensure a 39:36 halftime advantage. Les Bleus needed an 8:0 run
midway through the third period to pull ahead. Russia surged back in front but
Invernizzi gave Les Bleus a 52:51 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Russia
used an 8:0 rally to grab a 62:54 lead early in the fourth quarter. But France
kept Russia scoreless afterwards crowning the regulation with 17 consecutive
points and earning victory.

Spain recorded another win at the Qualifying Round in Division A at the U18
European Championship. Five players scored in double figures as Spain remained
undefeated with an 84-75 victory over Lithuania. The team won Group F with 5-0
record, while the Baltic side advanced with 3-2 record from the third place.
Simonas Kymantas (204-C/F-93) and Abrines Redondo exchanged the baskets in
the start of the game, while Spain pushed the tempo for good later in the first.
Sanz scored for 29:12 and Perez brought 32:16. In the second quarter the margin
remained more then 10 points and Grigonis sent the squads to the lockers at
50:40. Trailing 18 points in the third quarter, the Baltic side reduced to 67:60
at the end of thirty minutes.
Simonas Kymantas cut it to 74:72 and later 76:74. Spain however remained
tough and won another game in Poland.

Italy grab the last ticket to the Quarterfinals in Poland as they needed
overtime to edge Latvia. In one of the best games of the last Day of the
Qualifying Round in Division A, Italian team won 85:83 and advanced to 1/4
Finals. Latvia had a chance to take their spot, but knowing that only a victory
by 25 points or more would be enough to advance to the final eight, did their
best.
Roberts Krumins (198-G/F-93) gave Latvia 15:12 and Sipolins brought 22:17.
Diego Monaldi (190-PG-93) however responded with a jump shot at the end of
the first period fro 23:22. The second quarter belonged to Latvia and they
grabbed 44:35 at the halftime. Moreover after 16-14 in the third quarter the
board showed 60:49 as
Matteo Chillo (202-F/C-93) made a free throw. Italy meanwhile needed a final
surge to tie the game at the end of the fourth period. In overtime they produced
8-6 to win the game.

held off Czech Republic to climb at 2-1 record in classification round Group G.
Klym Artamonov (176-PG-93) knocked down 20 points, issued 6 assists and
grabbed 4 rebounds to lead the winners. Czech Republic fell at 1-2 record after
the loss. Czech Republic pulled in front 17:10 midway through the starting
quarter. They rallied to a 21:14 lead at the first break.
Klym Artamonov and Danylo Zuikov teamed up for 19 points in the second frame
as Ukraine spurred in front 41:36 at the interval. Czech Republic erased the
deficit and eventually put their noses in front 56:54. But Kobets capped the

in charge throughout the opening quarter posting a 21:16 lead at the first
break. Ilari Seppala scored eight points in a 10:0 run from the Finnish team in
the second term as they grabbed a 30:29 lead. Finland arrived at halftime up by
two points 42:40. Finland tipped off the second half with a 7:0 run to boost

the ladder. It all looked the Polish way in the opening frame. The hosts fired
27 points to ensure a 7-point lead into the second quarter. But Croatia used an

minutes. The lead changed hands for numerous times throughout the third term.

16-8 after one quarter. Junakovic reduced to 23:18 and

In the third quarter the teams exchanged the leads several times, while Rojc

Poland used an 11:3 run midway through the opening quarter to surge ahead.
Poland posted a 23:13 lead at the first intermission. Slovenia managed to get
within 5 points in the second term but the hosts reacted with an 8:0 run to take
a 13-point lead. Poland arrived at halftime up by 9 points 42:33. Poland
maintained the lead throughout the third term. They posted a 62:45 advantage
with ten minutes remaining. Slovenia never threatened the margin in the fourth
frame as the hosts coasted to the victory.

Serbia registered the first win at the U18 European Championship in Poland. They
trounced Finland in Group B opener. Stefan Popovski-Turanjanin netted 22 points
to lead the Balkan side. Serbia dominated from start to finish. They posted a
24:12 lead after ten minutes. Steady Serbia maintained the pressure as they
piled up a 47:24 halftime lead. Serbia never slowed down in the third quarter.
They arrived at the final break up by as many as 37 points. Finland did not
manage to slow their opponents down a bit as Serbia coasted to the victory at
the end.
Nemanja Krstic (198-F-93) scored 11 points, while six players scored 8
points each in the victory.
Joonas Caven (203-C/F-93) answered with 22 points for Finland.

Germany - Turkey

Germany eked out a tough win against Turkey in the first game of the U18
European Championship for both teams.
Besnik Bekteshi (188-G-93) scored 15 points to lead the effort. Turkey and
Germany stayed close in the first quarter. Ozen and Tekin capped the period with
four points in a row as Turkey posted an 18:13 lead at the first break. Turkey
maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. They arrived at halftime up
by 5 points 37:32. Germany opened the second half on a 10:0 run and surged
ahead. Erulku answered with two triples as Turkey regained the lead.
Besnik Bekteshi immediately stepped up with back-to-back trebles of his own
as roller-coaster action continued. Germany arrived at the final intermission up
by seven points 57:50. Turkey managed to get within four points with under three
minutes remaining in regulation 60:64. Tayfun Erulku dragged the Turkish team
within three points 62:65 with two minutes to go.
Berkay Candan (205-F-93) and Kenan Sipahi put Turkey within two with 36
seconds to go. Haukohl missed a jumper but Germany grabbed an offensive rebound
and gave no chance for Turkey.
Dennis Schroeder (184-G-93) notched 13 points, while
Bogdan Radosavljevic (211-C-93) added 11 points in the winning effort.
Berkay Candan answered with 16 points for Turkey. Kenan Sipahi nailed 15
points in the loss.

Czech Republic - Spain

Spain earned the first win at the U18 European Championship in Poland. They
overcame Czech Republic in Group C.
Jaime Fernandez (187-G-93) came up with 17 points, 8 assists and 5 boards to
lead the effort. Czech Republic opened the game with four points in a row but
Spain soon erased the deficit and surged ahead. Spain posted a 27:23 lead after
ten minutes. Spain used a 9:2 run midway through the second term to boost the
margin to 13 points. But Czech Republic capped the first half with eight points
in a row to cut the margin to 5 points 38:43. Spain tipped off the second half
with a 13:3 run to clear off. The Spaniards outscored their opponents 24:10 in
the period to pile up an 84:60 lead with one quarter remaining. Spain never
looked back afterwards cruising to the victory at the end.

France opened their U18 European Championship campaign with victory. They
outlasted Latvia to gain the first win in Group C.
William Howard (201-F-93) and
Ulysse Adjagba (185-PG-93) stepped up with 14 points each to lead the
effort. France and Latvia stayed close in a low-scoring first period. The teams
were tied at 9 after ten minutes of action. Latvia opened the second period with
five points in a row to surge ahead. Les Bleus answered with a 7:0 run late in
the half to surge ahead 22:21. France tipped off the second half with a 12:0 run
to clear off. They led throughout the quarter and entered the fourth frame up by
15 points 43:28.
Ojars Silins (201-F-93) cut the distance to 10 points at the beginning of
the fourth quarter but France quickly restored a safe cushion and cruised to the
victory at the end.

win over Ukraine.
Arturas Gudaitis (208-C-93) knocked down 14 points to lead the Baltic team
to the starting win in Group D. Lithuania used a 13:0 run midway through the
opening quarter to clear off. They ensured a 28:13 advantage at the first break.
Lithuania tipped off the second frame with 12 unanswered points to boost the
margin to 27 points. Lithuania eased to a 47:22 lead at the interval. They
maintained the advantage throughout the third quarter. Ukraine faced a massive
39:70 deficit at the final break. Lithuania limited their opponents to 12 points
in the final stanza and celebrated a well-deserved win at the end.
