Latvia - Belgium 75-69Latvia celebrated Division B title in Matosinhos. They rallied past Belgium for the trophy. Latvia led throughout the first half taking a 35-31 halftime lead. Belgium unloaded 25 points in the third term to tie things up at 56 heading into the fourth quarter. Latvia held their opponents to just 13 points in the final stanza and got away with the victory at the end.
Roberts Blums (205-F-2005) came up with 23 points, while
Juris Vitols (187-PG-2005) added 12 points for Latvia.
Evert Van Eyck (180-PG-2005) answered with 17 points for Belgium.
3-4 Place
Montenegro - Austria 85-80Montenegro
rallied past Austria to earn Division A promotion as they finished
third in Matosinhos.
David Mirkovic (200-PF-2006) was pivotal with 31 points for the
Balkan team. Austria recorded a 28-19 lead after ten minutes of action.
But Montenegro used a 28-18 second quarter run to eke out a narrow
halftime lead. The teams went neck and neck throughout the second half
as Montenegro managed to snatch a crucial win at the end.
Vladimir Sudar (194-G-2005)
had 11 points for Montenegro.

for Austria.
5-6 Place
United Kingdom - Holland 95-94 OTGreat
Britain held off Netherlands in overtime to earn the 5th position.
Great Britain led by 8 points at the interval 48-40. Netherlands managed
to draw things even at the end of regulation. But Great Britain sank 9
points in the extra period and got away with a narrow win at the end.
Tyrese Lacey (161-G-2005) had 22 points, while
Nedas Cholevinskas (196-F-2005) added 16 points for
the winning side.
Joris Metz (195-G-2005) answered with 19 points for Netherlands.
7-8 Place
Romania - Slovakia 84-55Romania
outscored Slovakia to claim the 7th place at the championship. Romania
built a 40-18 halftime advantage. They ignited a 26-16 rally in the
third period to boost the lead and cruised to the victory at the end.
Andrei Oinaru (203-F/C-2005) finished with 19 points, while
Andreas Blidaru (183-G-2006) added 14
points for Romania.
Martin Pospisil (195-SF-2006) answered with 9 points for Slovakia.
11-12 Place
Iceland - Hungary 81-84 OTHungary
capped their tournament with a hard-fought overtime win over Iceland.
Gabor Bor (2005)dacs (201-F/G-1998) stepped up with 19 points to lead the charge. Hungary
accumulated a 45-37 halftime lead. Iceland managed to erase the deficit
in the second half forcing overtime. But Hungary sank 11 points in the
extra period to snatch the win. Hilmir Amarson topscored with 20 points
for Iceland.
13-14 Place
Bosnia - Estonia 82-88 OTEstonia
held off Bosnia in overtime to claim the 13th position in the
standings. Bosnia grabbed a 22-13 lead after ten minutes. But Estonia
managed to erase the deficit in the next periods forcing overtime. They
sank 17 points in the extra period to seal the win.
Erik Makke (186-G-2005) recorded
34 points, while
Espen Magi (196-F-2005) added 17 points for Estonia. Alem Fejzic
answered with 21 points for Bosnia.
17-18 Place
Norway - Switzerland 72-69Norway
held off Switzerland in the battle for the 17th overall position.
Switzerland enjoyed a 41-33 halftime advantage. But Norway poured in 39
points in the second half to eke out a narrow victory.
Oscar Hellebust (206-C-2006)
and Fredrik Kleidval notched 16 points each for Norway.
Andrin Njock (195-F-2006) and
Nikola Aleksic had 13 points each for the Swiss.
19-20 Place
Georgia - Ireland 93-81Georgia
clinched the 19th position in Portugal as they beat Ireland on the
final day. The Irish grabbed a 44-42 halftime advantage. But Georgia
responded with a 51-point outburst in the second half to drive to the
win. Nikoloz Abuldadze delivered 24 points for Georgia.
Leo Byrne (2005)
produced 21 points for Ireland.
21-22 Place
Albania - Kosovo 64-85Kosovo
stormed past Albania to claim the 21st position in Matosinhos. Kosovo
led throughout the bigger part of the game claiming a well-deserved
victory.
Arlind Konjuhi (177-G-2005) delivered 27 points, while
Jon Ismajli (193-SG-2005) added 23
points for Kosovo. Albania answered with 20 points and 12 rebounds from
Arden Begaj (213-C/F-2005).
