Serbia have been crowned European U18 champions. They overcame Spain in the title game in Nis tonight. Serbia eked out a 41-40 halftime lead. They held Spain to 11 points in the third term to boost the lead to as many as 5 points. Serbia unloaded 25 points in the fourth period to race to the victory. Nikola Topic (198-PG-2005) produced 24 points, while Mitar Bosnjakovic (200-SF-2006) added 21 points and 7 rebounds for Serbia. Mario Saint-Supery (193-G/F-2006) answered with 17 points for Spain. Hugo Gonzalez added 16 points in the loss.
3-4 Place
France - Germany 59-67
Germany clinched Bronze medals in Nis as they beat France in the consolation final. Germany jumped off to a strong start building a 22-14 lead. France responded with a strong push in the next two quarters to pull within a single point at the final intermission. But Germany went on a 19-12 run in the fourth quarter to secure the spot at the podium. Johann Gruenloh finished with 15 points, while Jack Kayil (192-PG-2006) added 14 points for Germany. Tidjane Salaun (205-F-2005) answered with 10 points for France.

5-6 Place
Turkey - Israel 90-88
Turkey nipped Israel to earn the fifth place in Nis. Turkey got 20 points from Mehmet Demirel (214-C-2005). They secured a 41-36 halftime advantage. Turkey extended the lead to 8 points heading into the fourth period and hung on to secure the winning outcome. Shachar Doron (193-G-2005, agency: Avi Zilberman) tallied 26 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds for Israel.

7-8 Place
Slovenia - Greece 62-66
Greece overwhelmed Slovenia to grab the 7th spot in Serbia. The Hellenes used a 21-12 run in the second period to secure a 40-32 halftime advantage. Slovenia held their opponents to just 5 points in the third term to tie things up. But Greece sank 21 points in the final stanza to eke out a tough win. Eleftherios-Kosmas Liotopoulos (190-G-2006) came up with 15 points for Greece. Urban Kroflic (197-F-2006) accounted for 16 points in the defeat.

9-10 Place
Italy - Croatia 76-61
Italy captured the ninth position in Serbia as they rallied past Croatia today. The Azzurri registered a 32-26 halftime lead. They sank 44 points in the second half to rally to the victory. Dame Sarr (198-F/G-2006) came up with 18 points, while Gabriel Pozzato (189-G-2005) added 15 points for Italy. Tin Udovicic (190-PG-2005) answered with 17 points for Croatia.

11-12 Place
Lithuania - Sweden 82-79
Lithuania finished 11th in Nis as they held off Sweden today. The Baltic team dominated in the first half building a 16-point halftime lead. Sweden unloaded 31 points in the fourth quarter but stopped just short of win at the end. Nojus Indrusaitis (198-F-2006) came up with 19 points to lead Lithuania. William Holmstrom (190-G-2005) replied with 27 points for Sweden.

13-14 Place
Poland - Denmark 87-102
Denmark eased past Poland and secured their Division A spot. Poland led by two points at halftime 42-40. But Denmark took over in the second half. They poured in 62 points and rallied to the decisive win at the end. Anton Ostoft stepped up with 21 points and 9 assists, while Johan Munch (194-PG-2005) added 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Scandinavian team. Joel Cwik (194-SF-2006) notched 18 points for Poland.

15-16 Place
Czech Republic - Finland 76-81
Finland claimed the 15th overall position at the championship as they wrapped up their campaign with win over Czech Republic. Finland trailed by two points at halftime. But they ignited a decisive 22-12 run in the third period to surge ahead for good. Eetu Heinonen (190-G-2006) and Elmeri Abbey (178-G-2006) tossed in 18 points each for Finland. Benjamin Koppke (201-PF-2005) answered with 13 points for Czech Republic.
