ProB Round 7 (Regular Season): Blois are upset by Rouen

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in ProB, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked ADA Blois (5-2) and sixteenth ranked SPO Rouen (3-4) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. ADA Blois was edged by SPO Rouen in a tough game in Blois 76-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ADA Blois. Rouen forced 20 Blois turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Blois helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Surinamese forward Gavin Kensmil (201-1998, college: SF Austin) fired 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Eric Nottage (187-1994, college: FIU) produced 10 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rouen moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Blois at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Rouen is looking forward to face Evreux (#18) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blois will play against Challans (#20) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Caen. Ninth ranked Denain Voltaire (4-3) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 19th ranked Calvados (1-5) 83-81 on Thursday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Gaetan Meyniel (189-2000) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Romain Parmentelot contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Bahamas forward Rashad Davis (195-1996, college: FIU) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds for Caen. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Denain-Voltaire moved-up to seventh place. Caen lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with five games lost. Denain-Voltaire will play against Saint-Chamond (#17) in Saint Chamond in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caen will play on the road against Gries-Souffel to get more than just one victory in their record.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Antibes, where higher ranked Olympique Antibes (3-3) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Nantes (3-4) 79-91 on Friday. It was a great evening for Jean-Fabrice Dossou who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Garlon Green responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Nantes moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Olympique Antibes dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Aix-Maurienne. Nantes will meet at home Hyeres-Toulon (#16) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Antibes will play against Aix-Maurienne (#8) in Aix-les-Bains and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Poitiers defeated Champagne in a road game 86-79. Evreux was smashed by Pau-Lacq-Orthez at home 65-98. Gries-Souffel won against Hyeres-Toulon on the opponent's court 100-96. Quimper unfortunately lost to Orleans in a home game 73-83. Challans recorded a loss to Roanne on the road 79-97. Saint-Chamond crushed La Rochelle on its own court 108-73. Aix-Maurienne was smashed by Vichy in a road game 97-75.
The best stats of 7th round was 18 points by Nolan Kingue of Vichy.




Blois - Rouen 76-78

We should mention about the upset which took place in Antibes, where higher ranked Olympique Antibes (3-3) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Nantes (3-4) 79-91 on Friday. Nantes dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Olympique Antibes' 30. It was a great evening for naturalized Beninese center Jean-Fabrice Dossou (211-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Mathys Kangudia (189-2004) helped adding 18 points. At the losing side American forward Garlon Green (201-1991, college: TCU, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and naturalized DR Congolese forward Shekinah Munanga (202-1997) scored 13 points. There was a minor upset in Reims where 9th ranked Champagne (3-4) was defeated by twelfth ranked Poitiers (3-4) 86-79 on Friday. It was a great evening for center Narcisse Ngoy (209-2004) who led his team to a victory scoring 9 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Marcus Gomis (183-2000) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. Poitiers' coach Andy Thornton-Jones used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Canadian point guard Shamar Givance (179-1999, college: UTEP) responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Eddy Kayouloud (200-1999, college: Cent Arkansas) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Poitiers and five Champagne players scored in double figures. Poitiers moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Champagne. Poitiers will meet higher ranked Orleans (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Champagne will play against Vichy (#3) and hope to secure a win.
