The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Bayern Muenchen (20-5) in Weissenfels on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by sixteenth ranked MBC (11-17) 91-79. Weissenfels outrebounded Bayern 37-25 including 18 on the offensive glass. American point guard Charles Callison (185-1995, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up and scored 29 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Croatian-Bosnian forward Jure Planinic (206-2000) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Weissenfels moved-up to fifteenth place. Bayern lost third consecutive game. Defending champion still keeps top position with five games lost. Weissenfels are looking forward to face higher ranked Hamburg (#12) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayern will play against Chemnitz (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Berlin. Fourteenth ranked EWE Baskets (12-16) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging second-ranked ALBA Berlin (19-8) 81-79 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ALBA Berlin. American guard Brian Fobbs (196-1998, college: Towson) nailed 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Chris Clemons accounted for 20 points and 7 assists. International point guard Jack Kayil (191-2006) came up with 15 points for ALBA in the defeat. ALBA Berlin's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oldenburg moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Frankfurt. ALBA at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Oldenburg will play against higher ranked Rostock (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ALBA will play against Ludwigsburg (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 29: Ludwigsburg lost to Trier on the opponent's court 76-92. Wuerzburg unfortunately lost to Vechta in a home game 86-103. Bonn managed to beat Chemnitz on the road 76-75. Bamberg defeated Jena on its own court 81-75. Frankfurt was smashed by Hamburg in a road game 97-75. Heidelberg was destroyed by Rostock at home 70-101.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 25 points and 4 assists by TJ Crockett of Rostock.




Trier - Ludwigsburg 92-76

There was a minor upset in Trier where 6th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (15-12) was defeated by eighth ranked Gladiators (16-12) 92-76 on Monday. Trier dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to EnBW Ludwigsburg's 32 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ludwigsburg 44-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maik Zirbes (208-1990) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Marten Linssen (203-1998, college: St.Louis, agency: LUMANI 10.7) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Latvian point guard Toms Skuja (189-2002) produced 17 points and guard Lenny Anigbata (196-2004) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trier moved-up to sixth place.
