The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Szolnok (20-2) on the court of ninth ranked Kormend on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Kormend 102-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Szolnok. Kormend shot 61.7 percent from the field. They outrebounded Szolnok 37-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kormend looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Szolnok helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Jalen Moore (180-1999, college: Oakland) scored 24 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Kyle Foster (197-1998, college: Howard) chipped in 24 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Polish Szymon Wojcik (208-1999, college: UMBC) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kormend maintains ninth position with 9-13 record. Defending champion Szolnok still keeps top place with two games lost. Kormend are looking forward to face ZTE KK (#10) in Zalaegerszeg in the next round. Szolnok will play at home against DEAC (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Szombathely (17-5) against seventh ranked Honved (12-10) on Saturday night. Host Szombathely was defeated by Honved in a tough game in Szombathely 92-98. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Szombathely. Serbian guard Djordje Dimitrijevic (188-1997, college: Mercer, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 29 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and Vincent Valerio-Bodon supported him with 23 points. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) by the former international guard Zoltan Perl (195-1995) did not help to save the game for Szombathely. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Honved have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 12-10 record. Szombathely at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Honved will play against OSE Lions (#13) in Oraszlany in the next round where they are favorite. Szombathely will play on the road against Alba (#5) in Szekesfehervar and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked OSE Lions managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Szedeak in Oraszlany 104-87. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference proves that OSE Lions was well-prepared to that game. Rudi Williams fired 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Keegan Records produced 16 points and 9 rebounds for lost side.
