VTB Youth League Round 2 (Regular Season): Zenit-2 keeps a leadership position

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in VTB-Youth League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Zenit-2 smashed Enisey-2 in Saint Petersburg 107-39. Zenit-2 held Enisey-2 to an opponent 22.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.2 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Zenit-2 forced 30 Enisey-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 48-30 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zenit-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Enisey-2's players. The best player for the winners was Alexandr Porotnikov (192-2007, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Anton Suykonen (193-2009) chipped in 20 points. Forward Danil Biserov (198-2007) produced 8 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Enisey-2 will play next round against N.Novgorod-2 trying to get back on the winning streak. Zenit-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Uralmash-2 recorded a loss in Yekaterinburg. Hosts were defeated by Avtodor-2 65-60. Armenian Evgeniy Gordeev (-2009) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. Arseniy Tkachev contributed with 8 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Forward Yan Minaev (198-2007) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds for Uralmash-2. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Avtodor-2 will play against MBA-2 in Moscow in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Uralmash-2 will play on the road against Minsk to get more than just one victory in their record.

Rest of the games of round 2 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
N.Novgorod-2 lost to CSKA-Junior in Moscow 56-89. MBA-2 smashed UNICS-2 at home 97-44. Samara-2 lost to Parma-2 on the opponent's court 65-85. ChBK-2 managed to outperform Minsk in a home game 70-64. Khimki-2 managed to beat Dynamo Ufa on the road 88-80. Lokomotiv-2 crushed Dinamo-2 on its own court 91-60. Zenit-2 smashed Enisey-2 in Saint Petersburg 109-63.



CSKA-Junior - N.Novgorod-2 89-56:
There was no surprise in Moscow where N.Novgorod-2 was crushed by CSKA-Junior 89-56. CSKA-Junior forced 24 N.Novgorod-2 turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Guard Rafael Tashev (198-2008) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 5 assists. Forward Egor Bliznetcov (203-2009) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four CSKA-Junior players scored in double figures. Center Arseniy Kanaev (207-2009) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Stepan Fokin (-2009) added 8 points and 4 assists in the effort for N.Novgorod-2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSKA-Junior will play against Samara-2 on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. N.Novgorod-2 will play against Enisey-2 in Krasnoyarsk to get more than just one victory in their record.

MBA-2 forced 28 UNICS-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. MBA-2 players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by UNICS-2's players. Ivan Kucherov orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Kirill Khanin (200-2009) contributed with 15 points and 5 steals for the winners. Four MBA-2 players scored in double figures. MBA-2's coach Ivan Kucherov felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Denis Mamedov (185-2007) replied with 17 points and Kirill Chichunov added 11 points in the effort for UNICS-2. MBA-2 will play against Avtodor-2 in Saratov in the next round where they are favorite. UNICS-2 will play on the road against Dinamo-2 in Vladivostok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Forward Bogdan Kozlov (203-2007) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Belarusian forward Stanislav Kozel (190-2007) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Belarusian swingman Nikita Kudryavtsev (193-2007) added 12 points in the effort for Minsk.
