Sergey Chigishov gets MVP of the Week award for Russian VTB-Youth League

Talented Sergey Chigishov (198-F-2008) put on an amazing game in the last round for BC Khimki Moscow Region 2nd team and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 18-year old forward had a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Dynamo Ufa (#12, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 88-80. Khimki-2 is placed at 3rd position in Russian VTB-Youth League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Khimki-2 won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Chigishov had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Khimki-2 and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Chigishov has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 20.5ppg. Chigishov is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 9.5rpg) and averages solid 56.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Ivan Kucherov of MBA Moscow 2nd team. Kucherov impressed basketball fans with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led MBA-2 to another comfortable win outscoring UNICS-2 (0-2) 97-44. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Kucherov is a newcomer at MBA-2 and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Alexandr Porotnikov (192-SG-2007, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) of top-ranked Zenit Saint Petersburg 2nd team. Porotnikov showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Zenit-2, leading his team to a 107-39 easy win against Enisey-2 (#16, 0-3). Zenit-2 started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. Porotnikov turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Porotnikov has a great season in Russia. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.7ppg (6th best).
