Kalei Yelamos gets MVP of the Week award for Swiss NLB (by Hoops Agents)

Spanish Kalei Yelamos (204-PF-1996) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for BC Winterthur and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents NLB Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 30-year old power forward had a double-double of 33 points and 17 rebounds, while his team was edged out by GC Zurich U23 (#14, 1-3) 72-69. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Winterthur maintains the 17th position in Swiss NLB. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 4 games and had no victories. In the team's last game Yelamos had a remarkable 83.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Winterthur's top player in his first season with the team. Yelamos has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 22.5ppg), rebounds (4th best: 11.8rpg) and averages solid 2.8bpg and 64.0% FGP. Worth to mention Yelamos played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young guard Taner Ozturk (187-G-2007) of Grasshopper Club Zurich Wildcats. Ozturk impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as GC Zurich lost that game 76-85 to Grand-Saconnex (3-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Ozturk is a newcomer at GC Zurich and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Kiyan Lappert (185-G-2008) of Lions de Geneve (#4). Lappert scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was a key player of Geneve, leading his team to a 85-76 win against GC Zurich U23 (#14, 1-3). Geneve needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 1 lost game. Lappert has a great season in Switzerland. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (9th best).
