Argentina - Spain 35-74 Spain coasted past Argentina to finish the group stage undefeated. Spain grabbed a 33-12 halftime lead. They unloaded 41 points in the second half to ease to the third straight victory. Ines Outeiral posted 12 points, while Deva Bermejo (166-PG-2004) added 10 points for the winners. Nicole Tapari (172-G-2004) answered with 8 points for Argentina.
Australia - France 68-72 France outscored Australia to earn the second position in Group A. les Bleues earned a 42-32 halftime advantage. Australia managed to pull within one point at the final break. But France responded with a 20-17 run in the fourth stanza to snatch the victory. Leila Lacan (174-PG-2004) came up with 16 points, while Anaelle Dutat (183-F-2004) had 12 points for the winners. Isobel Borlase (180-G-2004, agency: ONE Sports and Entertainment) and Nyadiew Puoch (189-C-2004) tossed in 14 points apiece for Australia.
Mali - Germany 73-66 Mali overcame Germany to earn the second position in Group B. The teams were tied at 32 heading into the second half. Germany surged ahead in the third term taking a 4-point lead. But Mali responded with a 27-16 run in the fourth term to snatch the win. Maimouna Haidara (181-PF-2004) posted 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Sira Thienou (178-F-2004) added 15 points for Mali. Frieda Buehner (184-F/C-2004, college: Florida) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds for Germany.
Taiwan - USA 49-112 USA fired past Taiwan to gain 3-0 record atop of Group B. USA piled up a massive 52-20 halftime lead. They unleashed 60 points in the second half and raced to a comfortable win at the end. Joyce Edwards registered 19 points, while Londynn Jones (163-G-2004) added 17 points for the winning side. Li En-Hsin (162-G-2005) delivered 8 points for Taiwan.
Japan - Lithuania 80-78 Japan held off Lithuania to remain undefeated in Torrejon. They finished atop of Group C at 3-0 record. Minami Yabu (178-F-2004) posted 23 points to lead the charge. Japan recorded a 44-41 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 7-point mark heading into the fourth quarter. Lithuania cut the deficit in the final stanza but could not avoid the loss. Nanami Tsuno (158-PG-2004) had 19 points for Japan. Vilte Andrinaviciute responded with 25 points for Lithuania.
Brazil - Italy 74-84 Italy registered the first win at the championship as they overcame Brazil in Group C action. The Azzurri claimed a 34-16 lead ten minutes into the game. Brazil outscored their opponents in each of the remaining quarters but could not avert the loss. Vittoria Blasigh notched 27 points, while Eleonora Villa (172-G-2004, agency: Players Group) had 14 points for Italy. Taissa Nascimento (178-SF-2005) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds for Brazil.
Egypt - Canada 44-100 Canada posted the third straight victory at the tournament. They stunned Egypt to finish the group stage undefeated. Canada built a 51-17 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Syla Swords (182-G-2006) posted 22 points, while T'Yana Todd (183-G-2004) added 13 points for Canada. Jana Elalfy (192-C-2005) accounted for 20 points and 9 rebounds for Egypt.
China - Czech Republic 59-75 Czech Republic outscored China to earn the second position in Group D. The Europeans led by just two points at halftime 35-33. But they went on a 21-9 run in the fourth quarter to ice the victory. Dominika Paurova (183-F/C-2005) provided 20 points, while Emma Cechova (195-F-2004) added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Czech team. Duoling Hu (175-G-2005) answered with 18 points for China.
