Mersin outrebounded Kibirkstis 38-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Kennedy Burke (185-1997, college: UCLA) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and German center Luisa Geiselsoeder (192-2000) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Center Daugile Use (196-1996) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and center Giedre Labuckiene (192-1990) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
