There was no surprise when 20th ranked FrenchASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (8-27) lost at home to third ranked Greek Olympiacos (23-12) 82-74 on Friday. Olympiacos made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game, while ASVEL only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded ASVEL 42-28 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (204-1995) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Serbian center Nikola Milutinov (213-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. Forward Melvin Ajinca (202-2004) came up with 17 points and Colombian swingman Braian Angola-Rodas (198-1994, college: FSU) added 14 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for ASVEL in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Greek champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. ASVEL lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 27 lost games.
