Regular Season Round 1: Besiktas - Un.Olimpija 68-70

Besiktas were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Ljubljana 70-68 on Wednesday night. Besiktas trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 32-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-70 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Un.Olimpija made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 10 assists. Montenegrin-American forward Halil Kanacevic (203-91, college: St.Joseph's) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Un.Olimpija's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for Besiktas. Un.Olimpija will face Khimky at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Besiktas will play against Zenit in Saint Petersburg.
