Regular Season Round 1: Stelmet ZG - Lokomotiv 78-97

Stelmet was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Kuban 97-78 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Lokomotiv. Stelmet was better in fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lokomotiv forced 19 Stelmet turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Stelmet's players. It was a very good performance for American forward Derrick Brown (203-87, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Croatian swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Lokomotiv's coach let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) answered with 13 points and 6 assists and point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Stelmet. Four Lokomotiv and five Stelmet players scored in double figures. Lokomotiv will face Ventspils at home in the next round. Stelmet will play against PAOK in Thessaloniki and hope to win that game.
