Regular Season Round 4: EWE Baskets - Spirou 72-68
Date: November 4, 2014
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked German EWE Baskets (1-3) beat bottom-ranked Belgian Spirou Charleroi (1-3) in Oldenburg 72-68 on Tuesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. EWE Baskets made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for power forward Adam Chubb (208-81, college: Pennsylvania) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Five EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. Forward Dylan Page (204-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds and forward Eric Wise (198-90, college: USC) added 19 points in the effort for Spirou Charleroi. EWE Baskets left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with Spirou. EWE Baskets will face league's leader Acea in Roma in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spirou Charleroi will play at home against the league's second-placed Sluc Nancy and hope to win that game.
