Regular Season Round 4: Ploiesti - Hapoel J-M 83-74
Date: November 5, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Israeli Hapoel Jerusalem (1-3) lost on the road to third ranked Romanian Ploiesti (3-1) 83-74 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hapoel Jerusalem won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ploiesti won last quarter 24-17. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for American point guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois, agency: Priority Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 assists. Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87, agency: Alti Sport) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) replied with 23 points and 8 rebounds and Yotam Halperin (195-84) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Hapoel Jerusalem. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Romanian champion keeps a position of Group E leader, which they share with Banvit BK and Lietuvos rytas. Loser Hapoel Jerusalem keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Ploiesti will face bottom-ranked Partizan in Beograd in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Jerusalem will play at home against Lietuvos rytas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
