Regular Season Round 4: CEZ Nymburk - Virtus Acea 89-87 3OT

Italian Acea (3-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fourth ranked Czech CEZ Nymburk on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by CEZ Nymburk in triple-overtime 89-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Acea. Acea was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 13-12 charge of CEZ Nymburk, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in triple-overtime eventually winning that period 13-13. CEZ Nymburk looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 assists and FYR Macedonian-American point guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Even 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech) did not help to save the game for Acea. Croatian point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, agency: Alti Sport) added 18 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Czech champion (2-2) moved-up to third place in Group C, which they share with Sevilla. Acea at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Nancy. CEZ Nymburk will meet Sevilla on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Acea will play against EWE Baskets and hope to secure a win.
