Everything could happen in Bamberg at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked German Brose Baskets and 3rd placed Spanish CAI Zaragoza had identical 2-2 record. This time Brose Baskets used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Zaragoza 90-74 on Wednesday night. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. The game without a history. Brose Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Brose Baskets outrebounded CAI Zaragoza 41-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) chipped in 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Australian guard Chris Goulding (192-88) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds and American-Italian guard Kevin Lisch (188-86, college: St.Louis) scored 17 points. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Brose Baskets maintains second place in Group A with 3-2 record behind leader Strasbourg, which they share with Telekom Bsk. Loser CAI Zaragoza dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Brose Baskets will face bottom-ranked Trenkwalder RE in Reggio Emilia in the next round. CAI Zaragoza will play on the road against Paris-Levallois and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
