There was no surprise in Balikesir where Russian Krasny Oktyabr (2-3) was defeated by Turkish Banvit BK (4-1) 90-75 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 50-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Banvit BK dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Krasny Oktyabr's 32. Banvit BK had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Belarusian-Russian forward Vladimir Veremeenko (208-84) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American-Bulgarian point guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists.
