Regular Season Round 6: Brose Bask. - Grissin Bon RE 75-61

There was no surprise in Bamberg where 6th ranked Italian Trenkwalder RE (1-5) was defeated by second ranked German Brose Baskets (4-2) 75-61 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 39-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Brose Baskets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Trenkwalder RE's players. The best player for the winners was American-Nigerian power forward Trevor Mbakwe (207-89, college: Minnesota) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Latvian point guard Janis Strelnieks (191-89) chipped in 20 points. Four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. Brose Baskets' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Achille Polonara (203-91) who recorded 14 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Donnell Taylor (198-82, college: UAB) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Brose Baskets maintains second position in Group A with 4-2 record behind leader Strasbourg. Trenkwalder RE lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with five games lost. Brose Baskets will face Telekom Baskets (#3) in Bonn in the next round. Trenkwalder RE will play at home against Paris-Levallois and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
