Regular Season Round 6: AV Cantu - G.Canaria 2014 63-80

Very expected game when 5th ranked Italian AV Cantu (1-5) was defeated at home by top-ranked Spanish G.Canaria 2014 (6-0) 80-63 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by G.Canaria 2014. AV Cantu was better in fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. G.Canaria 2014 dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to AV Cantu's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) who scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. American swingman Kyle Kuric (193-89, college: Louisville) chipped in 14 points. Four G.Canaria 2014 players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominican-American guard James Feldeine (193-88, college: Quinnipiac) who recorded 10 points and 5 assists and American point guard Darius Johnson-Odom (187-89, college: Marquette) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. G.Canaria 2014 have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 6-0 record. Loser AV Cantu dropped to the bottom place with five games lost. G.Canaria 2014 will face Oostende at home in the next round. AV Cantu will play against Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
