Regular Season Round 7: Ventspils - Lokomotiv 60-69

Date: November 26, 2014
Rather predictable result when leader Russian Lokomotiv (7-0) won against on the road 5th ranked Latvian Ventspils (2-5) 69-60 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-10. But Ventspils won second period 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American forward Derrick Brown (203-87, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Nikita Kurbanov (202-86) contributed with 10 points for the winners. American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Mire Chatman (187-78, college: UTPA, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ventspils. Ventspils' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Lokomotiv have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group F with 7-0 record. Defending Latvian champion Ventspils dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Lokomotiv will face PAOK (#3) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Ventspils will play on the road against second-placed Karsiyaka.
