Regular Season Round 9: Virtus Acea - CEZ Nymburk 78-72

No shocking result in a game in Roma where first ranked Italian Acea (7-2) defeated 3rd placed Czech CEZ Nymburk (4-5) 78-72 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CEZ Nymburk won third quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (201-84, college: Washington) who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Jordan Morgan (203-91, college: Michigan) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five Acea players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Pavel Houska (203-84) added 17 points respectively. Acea maintains first place in Group C with 7-2 record. CEZ Nymburk lost third consecutive game. Defending Czech champion dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Acea will face EWE Baskets (#5) in Oldenburg in the next round. CEZ Nymburk will play at home against the second-placed Sevilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
