Regular Season Round 9: Partizan - Krasny Oktyabr 84-70

There was a small surprise in Beograd where sixth ranked Serbian Partizan (2-7) won against 3rd placed Russian Krasny Oktyabr (5-4) 84-70 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 43-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Partizan outrebounded Krasny Oktyabr 42-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Milan Macvan (205-89) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Dragan Milosavljevic (198-89) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Four Partizan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) who recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Deandre Liggins (198-88, college: Kentucky) added 12 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Serbian champion moved-up to fifth place in Group E, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Loser Krasny Oktyabr keeps the third position with four games lost. Partizan will face higher ranked Ploiesti (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Krasny Oktyabr will play against the second-placed Banvit BK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
