Regular Season Round 9: PAOK - Ventspils 76-62

Rather expected game in Thessaloniki where 5th ranked Latvian Ventspils (2-7) were defeated by third ranked Greek PAOK (5-4) 76-62 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when PAOK's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-15 extending their advantage to 14 points. The best player for the winners was American guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington) who scored 13 points. His fellow American import power forward Kevin Langford (204-85, college: TCU) chipped in 15 points. Four PAOK players scored in double figures. PAOK's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Davis Lejasmeiers (192-91) who recorded 17 points and American point guard Mire Chatman (187-78, college: UTPA, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively. PAOK maintains third place in Group F with 5-4 record having just three points less than leader Strasbourg. Ventspils lost fourth consecutive game. Defending Latvian champion dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. PAOK will face Buducnost (#4) in Podgorica in the next round. Ventspils will play at home against Stelmet.
