Second Stage Round 2: CAI Zaragoza - Virtus Acea 67-53

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Italian Acea (1-1) was defeated on the road by Spanish CAI Zaragoza (1-1) 67-53 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by CAI Zaragoza. Acea was better in second period 12-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Acea to just 7 points in third quarter. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) who scored 20 points. The other American import forward Jason Robinson (198-80, college: Pikeville) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. CAI Zaragoza's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (201-84, college: Washington) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and Belgian Maxime De Zeeuw (204-87) added 10 points respectively for the guests. CAI Zaragoza will face Krasny Oktyabr in Volgograd in the next round. Acea will play at home against Cedevita.
