Russian Krasny Oktyabr (#3) forced overtime, but falled to Italian Virtus Acea (#2) by two points 86-88 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Volgograd. But the guests from Roma were better at the end. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 22-15 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. Virtus Acea made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (201-84, college: Washington) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Croatian point guard Rok Stipcevic (185-86, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 19 points. American-Irish guard Donnie McGrath (193-84, college: Providence) produced 17 points and 9 assists and American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 24 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Virtus Acea maintains second place in Group I with 3-2 record. Krasny Oktyabr at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Virtus Acea will face bottom-ranked CAI Zaragoza (#4) at home in the next round. Krasny Oktyabr will play against Cedevita in Zagreb and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
