Regular Season Round 1: Trabzonspor - Aris 74-71

The most important game of round 1 took place in Trabzon of Group D where Turkish Trabzonspor edged Greek Aris (0-1) 74-71 on Wednesday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aris won fourth quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Croatian-Bosnian center Andrija Stipanovic (209-86, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and American-Congolese point guard Dwight Hardy (188-87, college: St.John's) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St.) responded with 12 points and 8 assists and the other American import forward Okaro White (206-92, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Aris players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aris will play next round against strong Buducnost trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Trabzonspor will try to continue on its current victory against Steaua CSM in Bucuresti.
